15 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Santa Fe Springs is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is one of the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. The population was 16,223 at the 2010 census, down from 17,438 at the 2000 census.

 

The plant was Founded in 1993, manufactures APET Containers, and has approximately 300 employees.

Responsibilities

Position Overview
The EHS Manager position exists to provide leadership and technical guidance in managing the EHS responsibilities. This
position develops strategies and programs aimed towards continuous improvement of EHS performance in alignment
with our EHS objectives. This person is also responsible for keeping the facility team engaged in the areas of
productivity, quality, safety and training. Must have a strong knowledge in Manufacturing, team development and
training.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs safety related administrative tasks, to include compliant program recordkeeping, equipment
procurement, Workers' Compensation case management, and responding to inquiries.
• Develops, evaluates and maintains effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and
regulatory requirements, these activities include but are not limited to Safe Operating Procedures, Hazard
Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and JSA's.
• Administers facility environmental activities including scheduling, tracking, reporting, planning, sampling, and
regulatory permitting for environmental assessments, and investigations to ensure corporate & regulatory
compliance.
• Conducts routine audits and inspections of environmental procedures and controls, recommending corrective
action to maintain safety and effectiveness.
• Maintains effective relationships with regulatory agencies.
• Develops, evaluates and maintains effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies
• Must be able to train effectively and have strong presentation skills.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in excess of 40 hours per week with no notice.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, prioritize multiple tasks and possess excellent follow-up skills.
• Demonstrate effective instructional design skills.
• Demonstrate effective technical writing, research and development skills.

• Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Office and other software applications specific to position.
• Effectively participate in Job Task and Training Needs Analysis process.
• Establish and maintain credibility.
• Effectively analyze course materials and participant information as required.
• Effectively control the learning environment.

 

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications)
• BA/BS degree preferred in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP).
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Have knowledge of Process Safety Management, Title V, NPDES and Storm Water Pollution Programs,
Hazardous Waste Management.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Able to work flexible hours and be available on call before or after normal business hours.
• Must be able to work at other locations and travel overnight.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: (if applicable)
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, dusty, or noisy areas.
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the task
