Junior Cylindrical Grinder:

 

Our Richmond Hill, ON location currently has Cylindrical Grinder position available in our Tool Making & R&D Shop. The Cylindrical Grinder position is a Junior level position into a clean, modern machine shop with advancement opportunities for career orientated individuals interested in Mold Making manufacturing. Monday - Friday 8.5 hour shift.

Responsibilities

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:   

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.  
  • Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, procedures, critical safety rules and participation in all required safety performance events.
  • Accurately use shop work order tracking system to log time to projects.
  • Set up and operate our Surface and Cylindrical Grinders as well as our EDM machine.
  • Fit components using precise grinding techniques, adhering to provided tolerances
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers as necessary for task set up and component verification.
  • Inspect finished parts for surface finish, contour conformity, and defects. 
  • Assist in assembly and/or packaging for shipment of finished tooling components.
  • Work with minimal supervision in the assigned work cell and communicate with the team to escalate problems if needed according to the existing procedures.  
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.  
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to follow detailed directions accurately.  
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, sketches and verbal instructions as necessary for completion of assigned tasks.  
  • Ability to work independently as well as working with others effectively as a part of a team is essential.  
  • Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well in group situations; ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner.  
  • Flexibility to work overtime and off shifts as business needs dictate.  

 

Job Functions:

  • Communicate directly with Shop Lead Hand and Follow Instructions.
  • Grind to specifications provided.
  • Interact closely with other employees to ensure smooth transition of job tasks’.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Higher education in either Machining or Shop work is an asset

Work Experience:

  • 0-6 Months of Machine Shop
  • 6 Months to 1 Year of Machine Shop experience

Other Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented
