15 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Santa Fe Springs is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is one of the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. The population was 16,223 at the 2010 census, down from 17,438 at the 2000 census.

 

The plant was Founded in 1993, manufactures APET Containers, and has approximately 300 employees.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

 

The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of production floor personnel to ensure efficient operations and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role plays a key part in driving the Pactiv Safety initiative and leverages available resources to promote continuous improvement and meet production targets. The position requires flexibility and commitment to a 24/7 operational environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety programs are implemented effectively, reviewed regularly and revised as necessary.
  • Provide direction, supervision and support to all thermoforming employees and extrusion employees as needed.
  • Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality.
  • Typically supervises 50-75 employees
  • Develop employees for maximum skill and output.
  • Schedule and monitor thermoforming and extrusion activities for maximum production.
  •  
  • Maintain production and quality levels at, or better than, standard.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Coordinator or designee to address repair and preventive maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate with Tooling Supervisor to address repair and preventative tooling needs.
  • Coordinate with the Technical and Human Resources Departments to address additional training needs.
  • Prepare production and personnel reports, as needed.
  • Ensure all shift documentation is present, accurate, and correctly processed.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and housekeeping requirements.
  • Coordinate with Scheduler to ensure daily production requirements are achieved.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning & directing work; performance management; rewarding & disciplining employees; technical skill development; addressing complaints & resolving problems. Influence to hire and fire within the department.
  • Initiates lean implementation.
  • Ensure all production data is gathered and reported correctly on a daily basis.
  • Support & improve upon quality initiatives designed to meet plant goals.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for employees
  • Responsible for interviewing and screening applicants for the department, to include influencing of hiring decisions
  • Fill-in for Production Leads, as needed.

  • Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in group situations
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner
  • Good Computer skills

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications)

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • some college preferred (business, engineering)
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience; preferably Thermoforming experience
  • Prior Supervisory experience required
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, dusty, or noisy
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the task.
