130 miles east of Des Moines, and 230 miles west of Chicago, Cedar Rapids is a city in eastern Iowa. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art includes many works by native Iowan painter Grant Wood. Brucemore is an estate with acres of gardens and an 1880s mansion, which houses local history displays. Nearby, Bever Park has an ice rink, a pool and farm animals. The National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library offers exhibits on the history and culture of 19th-century immigrants.

 

Evergreen Packaging Equipment is located in the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with close proximity to Chicago. Initially begun in 1880 to service the dairy industry, EPE now manufactures gable-top carton filling machines, making Evergreen Packaging a fully vertically integrated carton provider for its customers. EPE has 170 team members and now has 1300 installed machines in over 50 countries.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

This role exists to provide controls engineering support to assigned product lines. The key customers are the Process Centered Owner, manufacturing, purchasing and vendors, Technical Service Team, Field Service, and our end customers. The deliverables from this role are electrical engineering design, programming for logic controllers and visualization interface, and technical support

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • For assigned product lines, maintain a fully documented and accurate electrical design and control program that complies with established Evergreen and industry standards.
  • Maintain a cost balance for the electrical design that achieves the lowest base cost with the highest manufacturing efficiency and lowest warranty. This balance should also account for the highest operational efficiency and lowest maintenance requirement.
  • Produce electrical design/program changes to support sale orders, product improvements, and change requests/non-conformances for assigned product lines.
  • Provide timely, complete, and consistent technical support to internal and external business customers as required in support of assigned product lines.
  • Support the Engineering Team to increase output, standardization, and repeatability of designs and programs through developing and continuously improving engineering tools and work processes.
  • Maintain at minimum a 30-day backlog of all assigned non-conformances.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications) Required

  • Degreed Engineer (preferably electrical, will consider mechanical or chemical).
  •  0-2 years professional control systems experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people
  • Demonstrated ability to learn

Desirable

  • CAD experience – AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred.
  •  Industrial control electrical design experience
  • Industrial control programming experience
  • Electrical system and control program troubleshooting experience Manufacturing experience
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: (if applicable)

· Able to travel up to 25%

· Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and

local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
