Raleigh is the capital city of North Carolina. It’s known for its universities, including North Carolina State University. The number of technology and scholarly institutions around Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham make the area known as the Research Triangle. The North Carolina State Capitol is a 19th-century Greek Revival–style building with a statue of George Washington dressed as a Roman general in its rotunda.

 

The Evergreen Packaging Raleigh Carton Converting Facility is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is also home to North Carolina State University and the state's capitol. Opened in 1953 and employing 120 team members. The facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of global brands found in retail groceries throughout the US. It also extrudes cupstock and foil board and has received the State of North Carolina Excellence Award for the last 20 years. The facility has also exceded 7 years without a lost time injury.

Responsibilities

Overview: 

The Shift Supervisor provides leadership and direction to an assigned 12-hour rotating shift in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for exceeding performance targets in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity. In addition to supervising daily operations, the Supervisor ensures employee training is effective, policies and procedures are consistently enforced, and performance expectations are met. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Lean manufacturing and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and engagement. This position does require the successful candidate to work on a rotating 12-hour shift (days and nights). 

 

Job Duties:

  • Leads and coaches a team of 25-40 employees in daily operations, problem resolution, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, GMP, SQF, and quality policies.
  • Eliminates unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviors through Gemba walks, Leader Standard Work, and employee engagement.
  • Ensures customer quality specifications are met and procedures are followed.
  • Cross-functional teamwork with HR for payroll, personnel issues, and staffing.
  • Completes quarterly performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Supports and enforce company policies; manage disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Leads shift turnover meetings as part of the Daily Management System.
  • Manages hour-by-hour line performance to exceed daily production targets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment, materials, personnel, or processes.
  • Implements sustainable process improvements to drive business results.
  • Participates in structured problem solving (A3) and Kaizen events.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of End-of-Shift reporting activities.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an operations management, engineering, industrial technology, or equivalent manufacturing management experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Previous manufacturing leadership experience required.
  • Experience in Flexographic or Process Printing strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with SAP (or other ERP systems) preferred.
  • Experience with UKG (or other timekeeping systems) preferred.
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement and Quality Management Systems experience required.
  • Experience in reading and understanding product specifications
  • Must be willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift (days and nights).
