15 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Santa Fe Springs is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is one of the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. The population was 16,223 at the 2010 census, down from 17,438 at the 2000 census.

 

The plant was Founded in 1993, manufactures APET Containers, and has approximately 300 employees.

For individuals hired to work in California, Pactiv Evergreen is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The compensation range is specific to California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is Minimum: $83,000/yr. - Maximum $139,000/yr. 

Responsibilities

Position Overview
Oversees daily operations and technical support for APET, Extrusion, and Thermoforming manufacturing processes. Manages a
cross-functional team, coordinates tooling and equipment readiness, and ensures smooth production changeovers. Partners with
quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve issues, support new product trials, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsible for team performance, development, and operational efficiency.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports all aspects of the plant’s APET, Extrusion and Thermoforming Manufacturing Technology with a goal of improving
profitability and overall team’s skills.
Manage daily changeovers ensuring successful mold and trim tooling set up, equipment readiness, and set plan for startup of the line.
Will manage a team of 20+ from the mold shop, process, and labelling automation.
Manage all tooling that flows through the facility ensuring the inventory is accurate, repairs managed and coordinated through internal
and external support channels.
Work directly with all departments to troubleshoot open issues with production on a daily basis.
Work closely with the quality team to provide responses to customer complaints and coordinate long-term corrective actions.
Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical equipment and process issues and provides technical leadership.
Develops, writes, implements, submits and/or presents various technical reports and training materials and safety initiatives
Work closely with corporate engineering on all new items for the plant, ensuring successful start to finish trials.
Responsible for hiring, performance management including disciplinary actions, employee development for direct reports.
SPC (statistical process control) experience or knowledge
DOE (design of experiment)
Rapid skills development for consideration for Technical manager role in 1 to 2 yrs.

 

Skills and Competencies
• Thermoforming and extrusion manufacturing process experience. Will consider blow or injection molding.
• Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, are required.
• CAD/Solid works / SAP experience a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities.
• Recognized as a technical leader and key resource.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications)
BA/BS in Engineering with typically 4+ years of applicable experience preferred, but not required, or 8+ years Plastics Process
experience. Labeling, padding process and equipment knowledge, Root cause analysis, continuous improvement metrics, Process
capability analysis, golden recipe documentation and process control experience.

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
