Compensation:

  • Starting pay rate from $35.70 - $42.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Job Summary:  Facility Maintenance Technician –

  1. Responsible for the upkeep of plant facility equipment including building maintenance.
  2. Responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and functional.
  3. Maintain plant safety and housekeeping.
  4. Ensure completion of daily facility maintenance activities and completing daily work orders and entering information into CMMS Data Base.

 

Primary duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform daily checklist as required for PEPS Requirements
  • Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, facility equipment, and systems.
  • Diagnose problems, find solutions and help implement measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Understand and be able to appropriately manipulate main utility shut off isolation valves and switches.
  • Understanding of fire notification systems and detection systems. Can respond to alarm panel during trouble, fire alarms.
  • Operate mobile equipment, such as a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift in the performance of maintenance duties.
  • Read and understand system drawings and equipment manuals is helpful.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues as needed.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
  • Conduct routine roof inspections as needed.
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) as needed.
  • Daily monitoring of plant utilities, equipment up to and including Una Dyn Equipment Dryers, Crystallizers and related equipment will be required.
  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
  • Install appliances and equipment as needed.
  • Do garden/yard upkeep, collecting trash on a need basis.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
  • Collaborate with co-workers.
  • Report issues to the Facility Leader and or Technical Manager
  • Follow all Standard work practices which includes tasks such as: All Safety Policies such as Lockout Tag-out procedures, Critical Safety Rules, plant and department safety rules, PPE, SDS policy and procedures, plant fire protection systems alarms, and proper startup and shut down of all equipment.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or GED required/associate degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 1-2 Years facility maintenance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of carpentry helpful.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and schematics.
  • Possess basic plumbing skills (water heater knowledge, faucets and flush valves).
  • Possess general computer knowledge including proficiency in email communication and basic software applications.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and complete tasks and follow-through to full resolution when responding to issues.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in stressful situations.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, push and pull over 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb to heights of 60 feet.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for 8-12 hours at a time.
  • Work Environment: Loud, humid, extreme heat (depending on season), dusty, fumes!

Located 20 miles north west of Chicago, Franklin Park is just south of O'Hare Airport and is a village in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 18,333 at the 2010 census.

 

The plant was began plastics production in 1973 manufactures APET, and has approximately 200 employees.
