Responsibilities

Overall Purpose:

Technical leader dedicated to pulp production.

 

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

1. Re-establish Flow - When standard process flow is interrupted, re-establishes flow through prioritizing and allocating work team resources, pulling defined help chains, and returning the team to the defined standard. Critical Metric Measurement: Safety: Initial investigation and hazard control. Quality: Unschedule Downtime-Process. Delivery: Shift case variance from Stand. Attain. Cost: Shift material and labor usage variance.

2. Execute Standard Work - Standard work performed as defined by the systems. Critical Metric Measurement: Safety: Safety System Audit Results. Quality : Master Process control conformance. Delivery: Engineering Rate, Quality of Run, Runtime. Cost: Material Utilization.

3. Continuous Improvement - Implementation of the Plan, Do, Check, Act process to improve results from storyboards and solving problems in the moment at gemba. Critical Metric Measurement: Safety: Volume and Effectiveness. Quality: Volume and Effectiveness. Delivery: Volume and Effectiveness. Cost: Volume and Effectiveness.

4. Project Management - Proactive coordination and facilitation of assigned projects into the work team activities. Critical Metric Measurement: Successful project completion.

5. Training and Coaching - Manage the frontline technical development of the assigned work team. Critical Metric Measurement: Rating improvement.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•  Be proactive in identifying improved process capabilities on the production floor    
•  Actively participate in identifying and doing trials on alternate sources of AG fiber    
•  Provide input to new product development teams upon request.  Actively participate in start-ups of jobs  
•  Following established programs improve overall product quality on a continual basis    
•  Thorough understanding of material behavior in the AG pulping process     
•  Assist in the start-up of new equipment with process support      
•  Maintain and upkeep process definition sheets and tracking system      
•  Assist in the development and implementation of the AG pulp training program    
•  Actively participate in identifying and doing trials utilizing new equipment and new technology   
•  Ability to work on equipment with basic hand tools       
•  Maintain high degree of technical proficiency acquired through experience and on-the-job training versus prolonged courses or specialized instruction.           
•  Leadership Role          
•  Develop employee technical skills.  Coach and mentor employees.           
• Responsible for enforcing all Food Safety/ Food Quality programs in accordance with customer specifications 
(as dictated by the standards of BRC). When reported or noted all food safety concerns will be elevated to upper management. 
•  Other duties as necessary         

 

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

1. Re-establish Flow: a) Ability to solve problems, allocate resources and utilize defined help chains as necessary. b) Ability to develop and implement Reaction Plans. c) Ability to establish and address Ahead or Behind parameters. d) Ability to provide daily management skills to address employees performance.

2. Execute Standard Work: a) Demonstrate understanding of the document control process. b) Demonstrate knowledge of and proficient administration of the Shop Floor Execution System. c) Demonstrate understanding of and ensure adherence to the Safety Manual. d) Demonstrate understanding and adherence to the Management Systems Manual/ Equivalent. e) Ability to demonstrate understanding of and utilization of SPC/ SQC.

3. Continuous Improvement: a) Ability to use available methods to implement the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) process. b) Demonstrate understanding and utilization of the 4 Rules in Use

4. Project Management a) Ability to implement and administer Project Management. b) Ability to delegate to establish a positive and productive working environment.

5. Training and Coaching: a) Ability to monitor employee performance and progress using formal Performance Management Tools and/or Training Tools. b) Ability to successfully train employees. c) Ability to successfully coach employees d) Ability to delegate to establish a positive and productive working environment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
•  Two year technical degree or two (2) years relevant experience     
•  Experience working with machinery       
•  Experience in analyzing and solving problems      
•  Good analytical skills with initiative and trouble shooting skills     
•  Teamwork skills         
•  Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints     
•  Good verbal, written and presentation skills      
•  Ability to work under pressure        
•  Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, ERP system, etc.) required   

 

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to:         
•  Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing      
•  Work effectively and safely in a humid and high temperature environment.    
•  Work with corrosive chemicals       
•  Visually read various postings, bulletin boards, and computer monitors/screens   
•  Hear safety warning devices and alarms       
•  Ability to ambulate independently       

•  Possess adequate ability to do problem solving and establish cause and effect relationships in an office and/or manufacturing environment.
