The Burley Pactiv Evergreen plant was built in 2015 and manufactures sustainable molded fiber and thermoformed plastic containers including yogurt cups, hinged lid togo containers and coffee lids. The plant has 68 employees and is 176,000 square feet and is anticipating substantial growth in the near future.

Responsibilities

Overview

 

Responsible for further developing and continuously improving plant processes from raw material to finished goods in both plastics thermoforming and molded fiber departments and all supporting functions.

 

Responsibilities

 

· Work with management, technicians and operators to continually improve manufacturing processes (Decrease cycle times/optimize production, maximize throughput rate, increase product quality, and minimize scrap) and troubleshooting processing problems.

· Ensure PTVE is safely, effectively and efficiently utilizing its electrical resources to minimize costs and environmental impact while maximizing productivity. This is accomplished by providing technical leadership through electrical engineering and consultation to vendors

· Continuously stay informed and up to date on the newest electrical technologies, applications, and regulatory requirements.

· Create and maintain accurate engineering/process documentation for both fiber and plastics thermoforming molding specifications including Process Flow diagrams, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), etc.

· Establish set-up and processing parameters based on material, machine capabilities.

· Develop molding procedures to ensure consistent processing of product on all shifts.

· Monitor and review daily production efficiencies with Unit Manager to ensure consistent processing and effective problem-solving solutions utilizing kaizens and A3’s.

· Perform specified design of experiments and establish capability studies. Participate in documenting capital equipment justification.

· Continuously eliminate variation through standardization

· Thermoforming science deployment. (Better: Facilitate the advancement of process-based production monitoring and control.)

· Major capital project development and implementation. Effectively define and implement the electrical requirements of capital projects.

· Problem solving and quality/productivity improvement. Provide technical leadership to manufacturing and quality functions to effectively solve problems and improve operations.

· Develop and maintain electrical drawings and schematics as necessary.

Qualifications

 

· Preferably has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 

· Experience troubleshooting PLC control systems preference with Rockwell Automation and Beckhoff TwinCat controllers

· Must be proficient in troubleshooting variable frequency drives and servo motors

 

· Knowledgeable in design, installation and troubleshooting of automation and controls systems

 

· Must have experience with CAD Software (2D, 3D), AutoCAD Electrical, DraftSight or Kubotek

· Must be proficient with MS Excel/Word.

· Must possess solid data analysis ability, mathematical skills and numerical accuracy.

· Technical and mechanical knowledge for equipment related to wet and dry processes, such as pumps and gearboxes.

· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

· Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in the production process.

· Working knowledge of the Molded Fiber wet and dry process and tooling.

· Working knowledge of plastics extrusion and thermoforming processes

· Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

· Effective oral and written communication skills, especially in writing reports and maintaining documentation. Ability to independently create standard work instructions

· Ability to manage projects & budgets independently. Coordinating with employees and contractors to implement improvements on-time and on-budget.

· Ability to trouble-shoot equipment, machinery, instrumentation, and tooling issues. Ability to work in a team environment to resolve the issues.
