Overview

 

The Facility Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with Pactiv Evergreen’s (PTVE) corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

Responsibilities

 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

The primary job duties and responsibilities are:

 

· Drive the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.

· Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.

· Oversee the reporting and investigations of any potential injury, accident, and/or health and safety related issues.

· Oversee the necessary environmental, health and safety training to support and enhance the organization’s safety culture.

· Develop and deploy policies, procedures, programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the PTVE system.

· Provide communication and training to plant management, establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance

· Work with the Corporate EHS departments and provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects

· Be capable of sharing best practices to assist in driving change across the multiple locations

· Have a relentless pursuit for injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction

· Be capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and lead the location(s) to World Class Safety

· Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired EH&S performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives

· Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve EH&S performance

· Bring experience with innovative EH&S compliance and risk reduction techniques via employee engagement, behavior-based safety programs, risk assessments, and understanding of implementing, managing, and sustaining EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment

· Help coordinate and manage the standard work for hourly safety coordinators

· Immediately addresses and reports safety issues or hazards.

· Maintains excellent safety record.

· Maintains excellent attendance record.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

 

Experience required:

· 7+ years of progressive and related professional health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

· Environmental experience is a plus.

· OSHA training and/or certification, preferred.

· Environmental Health and Safety Certifications (CIH, CSP, CHMM) strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures.

 

Education:

 

BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field.

MBA or Masters level degree a plus.

 

Skills:

 

An individual must have the following skills in the Facility EHS Manager position:

· Proficient in MS Office.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.

· Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.

· Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.

· Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.

· Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.

· Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.

 

Physical requirements:

 

This position is located in a manufacturing location. Physical requirements will include but are not limited to:

· Standing for lengthy periods of time (frequent)

· Sitting for extended periods of time (frequent)

· Climbing up/down stairs/ladders/platforms (occasional)

· Working in a manufacturing environment that includes periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (frequent)

· Working at ground level (frequent)

· Working outside the manufacturing plant – outside property (occasional)

· Working inside the manufacturing plant (frequent)

· Roof access (occasional)

 

Working conditions:

 

The Facility EHS Manager will primarily work Monday through Friday. Also, may need to work on weekends, holidays, or alternative shifts.

· Non-traditional work schedules will be based on location needs or specific situations.

· Non-traditional work schedules will almost always be planned and coordinated in advance.
