Responsibilities

The Production Shift Leader facilitates the development of high performance teams within the plants and ensures the team's execution of standard work and compliance with our base systems for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. The PSL creates a culture of engagement within and between the teams to directly impact and consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables. This position ensures that high performance teams work collaboratively in the decision making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with plant goals and objectives, OSHA requirements and current Human Resources (HR) guidelines. People engagement and involvement are critical in creating and sustaining a high performance team culture; therefore the Shift Leader will be responsible for leading by example and foster the development of individuals.


Key Job Accountabilities

  • Employee Recognition & Engagement
    Creates a high-performance, engaging work environment that eliminates fear and intimidation and fosters
    communication, team work, and employee motivation. Understands and leverages the individual strengths of each
    employee in the environment and ensures we use and understand the available personality assessments. Ensures that employees are involved in improving processes through creativity, problem solving and learning. Emulates and leads
    using behaviors aligned with Fabri-Kal Values. Fosters connection with plant floor employees from day one and ensures a caring, accountable, dependable, and inclusive environment. Understands the defined elements of engagement and monitors the environment against them. Leads action planning sessions with the team that results in improved engagement levels. Provides regular, timely, specific, and sincere recognition to employees which results in an increase in behaviors that further improve the environment.
  • Plant Floor Supervision
    Partners with HR in the hiring, training and performance management process for hourly workers on the shift. Ensures
    that new hires understand the role expectations, how the role aligns to the vision and direction of the company, and the
    performance goals and measurements used. Oversees and manages the new hire training process, and ensures that
    new hire training is completed to a satisfactory level. Leverages established performance management, employee
    development and disciplinary process to get the best out of people. Prioritizes and assigns tasks and performs
    assessments of daily work area to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved. Coordinates job
    assignments based on production needs and/or attendance issues.
  • Base Systems & Standard Work

Ensures technical compliance with OSHA requirements outlined in the safety manual and other identified documentation
with a focus on team discipline in the lockout/tagout process. Supports the safety incident reporting and investigation
process. Supports the plant quality requirements and reaction plans within the Statistical Quality Control system.
Ensures that the team's production meets established standards and objectives for output and staffing. Serves as the
help chain for the team when problems or deviations occur. Drives effective problem solving at the front-line level in a
timely matter and activates the help chain when problems can't be resolved. Ensures resources are managed and
adjusted to optimize team performance, works with team members as well as department and plant leadership to resolve resource issues. Drives continuous improvement activities within the team. Identifies gaps and weaknesses in team capabilities and systems and works with team members and department / plant leadership to resolve.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years Manufacturing experience, plus 3 years Leadership experience
  • Thermoforming experience required
  • Willing and able to work 6:30am-6:30pm on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule
  • UKG/ADP time system knowlege
  • Associates degree in Business or Technical Field Preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Organized people leader

Leads the team to test proposed solutions and evaluate the chosen course of action after it has been implemented to determine its worth and impact.
Leadership
Develops and uses effective strategies, change management and interpersonal skills to influence others toward the accomplishment of identified objectives. Solicits input of others who are affected by plans, actions or proposed changes. A role model that uses positive approaches or strategies to influence others. Holds self and others accountable for
achieving established performance expectations.
Initiative
Evaluates, selects and acts on various methods and strategies for solving problems and meeting objectives before being asked or required to do so. Digs beneath the obvious to get at the facts, even when not asked to do so. Plans ahead for upcoming problems or opportunities and takes appropriate action.
