Position Information

Pactiv Evergreen is seeking a litigation and compliance attorney with 5-8 years of experience for the position of Senior Counsel, Litigation & Compliance. Reporting directly to the Chief Counsel, Litigation & Compliance, this attorney will manage or assist on a wide array of small to medium litigation matters including product liability matters, 3rd Party Injury claims, environmental and OSHA matters, and contract disputes as well as manage various internal investigations. This attorney also will:

· Help draft policies, procedures, and guidelines for the Company generally;

· Assist with creating and implementing programs and structures that solve compliance problems;

· Have ability to think strategically and creatively to solve problems and implement solutions and lessons learned; and

· Communicate clearly and respectfully about risks, strategy, and compliance issues.

Responsibilities

· Advising the Company on litigation and compliance matters on a wide array of topics, especially EHS&S issues;

· Investigating workplace allegations;

· Creating, updating, and implementing key policies of all sorts;

· Conducting training on various litigation and compliance related issues;

· Identifying and assessing legal risks and opportunities within multiple departments;

· Working with internal and external resources to represent Company in litigation, arbitrations, mediations, investigations and administrative proceedings, including determining strategy and reviewing the preparation of briefs and other court documents;

· Establishing and maintaining relationships, credibility and trust with Company employees, outside counsel, other departments, including EHS&S, HR, and the Business Units; and

· Travel to headquarters and other offices and facilities from time to time.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

· JD, training at a top national law firm and member of a state bar;

· 5-8 years of experience in a general litigation practice;

· Experience representing and advising individuals and/or companies on matters related to various corporate litigation issues, including contractual disputes, environmental and safety issues, 3rd P injuries, product liability cases, etc.;

· Proven track record of providing pragmatic and reasoned advice to business partners;

· Effective communication skills, especially with clients and colleagues;

· Strong writing skills, especially with respect to drafting policies, procedures and investigative reports;

· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, changing environment and to balance multiple, concurrent projects;

· Sound and practical business judgment and the ability to provide business-oriented, practical legal advice;

· Team-oriented collaborator;

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; and

· Ability to effectively manage and/or oversee outside counsel.

 

 

Pactiv Evergreen is required by laws in many locations to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $170,000 - $200,000.
