Overview

The goal of this position is to demonstrate maximum efficiency from plant to plant within an Operating Unit (OU). As our manufacturing technology, automation and opportunity for optimization increase, we must transfer knowledge, network and leverage best practices across our manufacturing sites as we continue to develop a Lean Management System to run our facilities.

Responsibilities

 

Responsbilities:
• Manage a CI Savings Budget across the OU that represents an achievable value to deliver back to the business.
• Work with all Plant Managers and Plant Staff to assure delivery of the projected CI Saving Budget.
• Drive the improvement of processes and systems in the plants and implement programs that will have continuing long-term benefits.
• Develop plans, schedules, and budgets for tactical projects to improve existing processes.
• Supervise, train and direct the workforce and facilities management staff regarding Lean implementation.
• Monitor existing processes to make sure they continue to perform at optimal levels of efficiency.
• Act as the subject matter expert in all core modules of our Pactiv Evergreen Production System (PEPS) to assure sustained results, including assisting in training and plant acclimation to the new PEPS process.
• Direct and facilitate CI activities to include Kaizen events in 5S, SMED, TPM, VSM, PDCA or equivalent, A3 Problem Solving.
• Ensure adherence to Lean Methodology, including Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management, Layered Audit Process and Business Plan development to eliminate waste.
• Conduct monthly presentations to group leaders and continuous improvement leadership appraising overall site readiness levels and capabilities and Cost Savings Project implementation.
• Ensure facilities are equipped with standard work and trained to operate with a multitude of technologies and business process changes.
• Bridge the gap between technical and operational teams, executing a range of CI solutions that move operations beyond current state to the next level of efficiency.
• Teach plant personnel to lead improvement efforts, including training on effective tools for successful project leadership.
• Direct and facilitate CI Activities: The ongoing lean improvement process with techniques such as Kaizen Events, Data Based decision making and Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).
• Improvement orientation and training: Provide training for teammates and ensure that the responsibilities are defined and understood and supports the lean projects. Teach others to lead improvement efforts, including training on effective tools for successful project leadership. (Develop CI-SME’s)
• Identify ongoing lean improvement: Identify training needs and assist with developing and implementing the required training.
• Metrics Definition and Development: Establish metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established goals and targets (KPI’s).
• Strategy: Work closely with the Operating Unit Director to build an overall Continuous Improvement strategy with cost savings of the Operating Unit.

Qualifications

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in a field related to Business, Engineering or Packaging Industry.
• Combined 7+ years of previous manufacturing experience with Operations and Continuous Improvement experience.
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean processes strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with Automation and SAP strongly preferred.
• Project management skills are required; as they will often be required to work on several improvement projects simultaneously, with very disparate groups of people within the organization.
• Must have Microsoft Office experience with advanced Excel Skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%-70%
