Located 16 miles south west of Chicago, Bedford Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 580 at the 2010 census. Bedford Park consists of a small residential area and vast amounts of heavy industry sprawling to the east and a small amount to the west.

The R&D Tool Shop moved from our Bridgeview Facility to its current location in 2009 and was renamed the Innovation Center. The facility houses 22 CNC Machine Tools, a prototype center, and various grinding and assembly equipment. The Innovation Center has approximately 30 shop employees as well as product and tool designers, project managers and Corporate Engineering staff. The Innovation Center earned Pactiv’s annual Safety and Environmental awards for the past three years with zero incidents.

Pactiv Evergreen’s Innovation Center, Bedford Park, IL, is seeking an energetic and passionate leader to oversee the facility including EH&S responsibilities. The R&D shop at the Innovation Center works on a 24/5 schedule.

The ideal Leader will:

• Be capable of driving change within the facility
• Have a passion for injury prevention, OSHA and EPA compliance, and risk reduction
• Be capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and continue our World Class Safety record
• Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired performance objectives whether it be EH&S

DESCRIPTION: 

Performs a variety of EH&S Tasks including but not limited to:  Leading the local OSHA and EPA Compliance activities,  initiating, driving, and managing key injury prevention activities, sponsoring employee led teams, engaging associates, and monitoring and managing our leading and lagging indicators.

• Develops, evaluates and maintains effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and regulatory requirements, these activities include but are not limited to Safe Operating Procedures, Lockout/Tagout, Hearing Conservation, and Powered Industrial Trucks
• Administer environmental compliance activities including but not limited to: tracking, reporting and scheduling as necessary
• Maintains effective relationships with external parties such as: regulatory agencies/governmental agencies, vendors, suppliers, customers, and local occupational health clinics
• Conducts routine audits and inspections of our environmental procedures and controls. Recommends and facilitates corrective actions to maintain the effectiveness of the procedures and controls.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• BS degree, preferably in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline
• Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA Regulations, Process Safety Management (PSM), Title V Air Permit, NPDES and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs, and Waste Management.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed. Our locations operate 24/5 and the ideal candidate will have the occasional need to be in the facility during non-traditional business hours.
• Must be able to work at other locations that may include overnight travel on occasion.
